Missing sound files for "pop strings smooth"

When I try to load Pop Strings Smooth in Logic Express 9, I get "Audio file “06f9bF1 M.wav” not found!" and it won't load. I'm brand new to LE9 as of yesterday. Not sure what's going on here. Thanks!

Are you the administrator on the computer? If not that might be why you can't find it.

Did you record this sound or do you mean it's a Logic 6 instrument or something like that?

If it's a sound the program always can use like a loop or an instrument you could look in the directories where the loops or sounds or instruments are kept. I think they're always in the administrator's stuff, not other users. They're kept in:
library/audio/apple loops
library/application support/logic/sampler instruments

In my directory library/application support/logic/sampler instruments/06 Pop Strings/ I'm seeing 8 files like: Cello (Arco).exs -- no wav files.

I think Logic has changed the file types it uses. For instance the loops are now .caf files, and they used to be .aif files - maybe they used to use wav files.

I mean it's a Logic Instrument that's not loading up. There's a few I found. One of the string patches, one of the horn patches, and one of the guitar patches. Not sure what else is "missing".

The whole message is actually "EXS24 instrument "String Ensemble.exs: Audio file "06f9bF1.wav" not found".

Another one is "EXS24 instrument “Classical Acoustic Guitar.exs”: Audio file “50A-2GA1-09.aif” not found!"

And finally, the horn one is "EXS24 instrument “Alto Sax.exs”: Audio file “YTASMLNOMA2X2” not found!"

I am the only user on the computer and am the Admin. I'll look in those folders. Not sure what's going on.

I'm going to upgrade to Logic Studio in a few days, so hopefully (knock on wood) it'll clear up some of this stuff, but I'm not so sure.

Well, good news is I'm getting Logic Studio in a few days. I'm going to do a clean uninstall and fresh install of Logic Pro, so hopefully (knocking on my mahogany Martin) I won't see the same things happening after Pro is installed.

Out of curiosity, what's the best way to do a complete uninstall of Logic Express?

Incase anyone else has the issue, as I did last night and needs a little more instruction.

Go into Garage Band and find an instrument that looks grayed out (the writing is in a light gray color : EG clean guitar) then click on it. Garage Band will say that to load this instrument you will need to download additional garage band content. Approve the download and OSX will start downloading.

It would have been helpful if Logic did the same thing!
